Copywriters cutting confusion
I had a meeting with a new client the other day, who, for the sake of this post, we’ll call “Awesome, Inc.” Awesome, Inc. is planning on opening a new business and wanted some ideas about the best strategies for marketing their planned venture. This initial meeting was essentially a fact-finding mission, where we took the time to learn about what the company does, what their vision is for their business, which services and products they plan to offer, and who they see as their ideal target market. As Awesome, Inc.’s marketing team, we can’t sell their business without a thorough understanding of what makes them unique from the competition, and my job specifically, as head copywriter job, can’t be done well without this understanding.
One recurring theme throughout the meeting was Awesome, Inc.’s need to help customers really understand what is involved in their line of business. Many people might glance at Awesome, Inc. and not be sure how it could help them in their lives, or how they could use the products and services they offer. One goal of the writing we will do for them is to address some of the preconceived notions and biases people may hold about their line of business. Here is where the skills of a copywriter really come into play. It is my job to help cut through the confusion with clear and directed language that will help educate potential clients about the services Awesome, Inc. plans to offer. If a potential client does not understand what this business can do for them, it is unlikely they will ever be able to experience the benefits provided by this business.
A business needs customers in order to be successful, period. Oftentimes when businesses make a marketing push, they try and play up they do, rather than informing customers about what benefits they (the customers) can expect from the business. When the time comes to make your next marketing push, consider seeking out the assistance of a marketing team or a copywriter to help educate your potential customers and cut through any confusion about your line of business.
