RDM Case Study

RDM is a property management company in Los Angeles who contacted Move Up Media (www.moveupmedia.com) because they were looking to grow their business. Their field is cluttered with companies who position themselves as property managers, even if they only manage a single complex; with over 30 years of legitimate property management experience at dozens of properties throughout Southern California, RDM was, understandably, eager to set itself apart from competitors. They needed to show their unique differences to gain new clients. The challenge came in trying to find an effective way to reach out to the right clients to show them how RDM is different. This is where Move Up Media stepped in.

Move Up Media started out with a series of meetings with RDM’s owner, Ryan, to get a feel for what types of potential clients he wanted to target, and to determine what types of marketing strategies had worked for him in the past. By asking specific questions and really listening to Ryan’s input, Move Up Media learned that RDM wanted both a stronger web presence, as well as print marketing materials to use for one-on-one meetings with potential clients. The team at Move Up Media came away from these meetings inspired to help RDM meet their goals, and immediately started outlining possible options to present to RDM.

RDM needed to include two distinct markets in their website plans:

  • Tenants looking for available properties to rent – These clients would need access to up to date listings, including images and maps showing where the properties were located.

  • Property owners who were looking for a company to manage their multi-family properties.

Move Up Media created a sleek, intuitive website that addressed both of these needs, using a single web address. When visitors go to the RDM website at www.rdmmanagementinc.com, they can easily chose information for “Tenants” or “Owners.” The tenant portion of the website is easy to search and navigate, and can be easily updated by RDM as properties come on and off the market. The owners’ side has a slide show presentation, highlighting RDM’s expertise, and educating property owners about what “100% Full Service”, one of RDM’s unique selling points, includes. Creation of the RDM website was a collaborative process that integrated both fine web design and copywriting to ensure that RDM was presenting itself online as an expert in the field of property management.

But Move Up Media was not done there. They also developed print materials which RDM agents could use in direct mail campaigns and face-to-face meetings; these materials were designed to be cohesive with, and drive traffic to, the RDM website. Move Up Media designed a three-pronged marketing campaign that included two letters (on custom designed letterhead, which Move Up Media also created) and a postcard. These supporting materials were designed to drive business to the RDM website and to fulfill the ultimate goal of having potential clients arrange personal meetings with Ryan and the RDM team. Each print piece included a unique address to an RDM website landing page, giving Move Up Media and RDM the ability to track the effectiveness of each aspect of the print marketing campaign.

Aside from the website and print pieces that Move Up Media created for RDM, they also designed a complete collection of supporting business materials, including business cards, security badges, advertising layouts and copywriting for print publications, as well as the apex of their marketing efforts, the “leave behind” packet. RDM wanted a high quality collection of printed information that they could give to potential clients at the end of sit-down meetings, information which would highlight the key aspects of why they should use RDM as their property management company. Keeping in mind that RDM was targeting owners of million dollar, sometimes multi-million dollar, properties, the leave behind packet was designed to impress with top quality printing and paper, refined design, and sharp copywriting. Move Up Media wanted RDMs leads to walk away from a meeting, not with a black and white stapled handout, but something that illustrated the overall quality that RDM would provide.

RDM has been, and continues to be, an ideal client for Move Up Media’s catalog of services. They have ideas and input about what they want, but rely on Move Up Media’s expertise to craft web design and print pieces that will catch the attention of their target audience. RDM give Move Up Media feedback during the design and writing process, which was integrate into what they created.

At Move Up Media, their greatest measuring stick for success is the satisfaction and success of their clients, like RDM.
